Tests are great in some ways. But there's nothing like real human interaction to really find out what a person already knows or doesn't - and more importantly - to find out and/or to sense what the person in the patched jeans and bad haircut sitting in front of you may be capable of learning or mastering, especially with recognition & encouragement of his potential by a real human being; - or better still - what he may even be capable of discovering where no one (much less, no test) has gone before.
Thank goodness for all the undiscovered geniuses like Einstein who went on to greatness. Thank goodness for Stephen Hawking, whose sad, twisted, deformed little body must have tempted doctors to let him go rather than save him, who had such a mind as his! - and thank goodness, Tom, for a Dr. DeBakey - who definitely went on past where any one else had gone before and by that - gave you back to you - and you to us!
Thanks to both of you for a great hub and a great first comment about it!
